Essential Cleaning Supplies

I have always wondered about the stock of cleaning supplies in my house. I have never been satisfied with the contents and have always wanted to buy more and better goods. Making a list of necessities in cleaning has been my weakest point and a most confusing one too. Every time I make a list I find I always miss an essential or two. I could never decide on the brand, quantity, requirement and storage of these supplies. Well, this was my sorrow and woe for as long as I can remember. But the answer to this problem was simple and systematic. Always have a list of requirements and break it down by categories of their use. I have always been a “to do” list person. Naturally enough for this issue too of deciding on the essential cleaning supplies I used a simple logic. I divided the supplies into different categories of their use required during the cleaning of my house:

• All-purpose cleaning materials for the whole house.
• Liquids and acids for the kitchen and bathrooms.
• Dusting material for whole house.
• Special or cautious cleaning for kitchen and racks.
• Floors, walls and roof cleaning.
• Laundry supplies
• Electronics cleaning
• Storage and disposals
• Pets and plants
• All-purpose cleaning materials for the whole house: As the heading suggests this list consists supplies that are used to clean multiple areas and things at home. This is a must have weapon when cleaning smudges, stains, sticky surfaces, marks and what not. This is like a one man army to fight many battles. A supply I can simply not do without. In fact, I use this all-purpose cleaning agent on a daily basis and always make sure I have it in plenty.
• Liquids and acids for the kitchen and bathrooms: My biggest worry is the cleanliness of two very important rooms in my house, the kitchen and the bathroom. To keep both these rooms clean and dry, I need to make use of various liquids and acids. I follow a ritual of weekly acid and disinfectant wash for both these rooms. I ensure to have a steady flow of liquid detergents, soaps, utensil cleaner, acid, floor disinfectant and toilet cleaners.

• Dusting material for the whole house: I have a good stock of dusters, brooms, sponges and clothes required to help in dusting and cleaning of my furniture, upholstery, air conditioners, Ceiling fixtures , doors, windows and all the other things I can see that needs its services.

• Special or cautious cleaning for kitchen and racks: My crockery, cooking range, oven, and the glass furniture requires special cleaning materials as suggested by their manufacturers or come with particular requirements. These are delicate and expensive things and hence need to be handled with caution and use of special supplies.

• Floors, walls and roof cleaning: It is very important for me to buy the right kind of supply to clean my wooden floor with its oil modified finishing. I only use the prescribed stain remover and polish for my floors. My wallpapers also require special material which I always make sure to buy.

• Laundry supplies: My laundry rack always has essentials like a liquid detergent, softener, color fixer, stain remover and liquids for woollen wash.

• Electronics cleaning: Next in line in my list of supplies is the materials needed to clean all my electronics. My television, fridge, iron box, music system and many more. I use mild cleaners for these and avoid liquids as much as possible. Special dusters and polishing agents are available for this purpose and I have plenty in stock.

• Storage and disposal: while listing out the essentials of cleaning supplies, one always forgets to count the storage and disposal materials. My list here consists of bins and trash disposable carriers. I make sure all my laundry, books, utensils, eateries, cleaning supplies are stored well and kept handy.

• Plants and pets: Last but not the least, my final essential is the supply for my plants and my pets. I make sure I buy plant cleaners and preservers from the prescribed stores. My pets are fed, bathed and bred well, thanks to the respective supplies recommended by their vets. Always remember to take suggestions for the supplies you may need for this very reason.

Every household varies and needs different essentials of home cleaning supplies, however, I have tried to boil these down to the basic.
